In Proverbs 31, the Bible states the value of a virtuous woman is far above rubies.
The ruby is considered one of the four precious gems. The other three are the sapphire, the emerald, and the diamond. Real rubies are very expensive and rare.
Rubies come from mineral named corundum. Corundum is colorless, but when another substance is picked up in the mineral the corundum receives color. If the color is blue, green, pink, yellow, or other colors, the stone is called a sapphire. However when corundum picks up chromium the stone glows with the deep red color and is called a ruby.
In the day-to-day living of caring for her family, and (for most women) maintaining a job outside of the home, a woman often begins to feel that she is becoming lost in the shuffle of life, nobody really caring about her needs and feelings. It is easy for her to devalue her worth as a person, and to believe that God does not even care about her.
However, when a woman experiences the power of the Holy Spirit, the cleansing of the blood of Jesus, she acquires something from God, an inner beauty, more beautiful and precious than any ruby.
Here at Steadfast, our goal is to lead each woman towards finding her place in God, discovering her new Spiritual beauty and understanding her value in God’s Kingdom in a greater way than ever before.
